Genius Desktop

Genius Desktop

Secure, accessible print client for Windows and macOS

The modern evolution of the Genius PC Client. Now with native macOS support, which was not available before. With Pull Printing, Light Pull Printing, Delegation Printing, Failover, support for Windows 11 and macOS, further platforms on request.

Insecure pressure costs trust, time, and bandwidth

Sensitive documents are left out in the printer tray. Print jobs are failing due to poor WAN connections. Failures of individual servers bring entire sites to a standstill. Lack of accessibility excludes users. This is compounded by outdated clients that do not support macOS. Genius Desktop addresses these issues.

How you benefit from Genius Desktop

Finally native on macOS: The previous Genius PC Client only ran on Windows. Genius Desktop supports macOS natively, making it the first client generation for mixed Windows and Apple environments.

Authenticated Printing in Everyday Life: Authenticated print release prevents documents from lying unobserved in the output tray. Communication is encrypted, HTTPS upload as an alternative to classic IPP or LPR printing.

Fail-safe for critical infrastructure: Multiple servers or cluster nodes can be configured per client. If a target fails, the client switches to the next one. If no target is reachable, print jobs are cached locally, and the user is actively informed.

This is what Genius Desktop does

Native macOS and Windows support

Windows 11 and macOS natively, other platforms such as Windows 10 and Linux on request. The multilingual client facilitates use in international teams.

Pull Printing and Delegation

Pull Printing and Direct Printing via Printer Selection, Light Pull Printing and Light Direct Printing, Favourites and recently used printers, Printer search, Basic Delegation Print and Print Job Name Modification.

Light Pull Printing for lean infrastructure

Light Pull Printing and Light Direct Printing significantly reduce central storage requirements and lower network traffic. Ideal for WAN links and distributed locations with limited bandwidth.

Failover Architecture

Each client can be assigned multiple Genius servers or cluster nodes via configuration. Unreachable targets are automatically blacklisted. Example: Entry 1 is a load balancer, Entry 2 is Server 1, Entry 3 is Server 2. If the load balancer fails, one functioning server remains accessible.

Emergency operation with user information

If a print target cannot be reached, print jobs are cached locally. The user receives a notification. As soon as a target is reachable again, the jobs are processed in a controlled manner. No lost jobs, no duplicate prints.

Central Configuration and Tenant Capability

Basic User Login, UI-less Printing for Kiosk Environments with Changing Users including Self-Delegation, Multitenancy Support, Accessibility Features, and Integration with Genius Relay.
