Frequently asked questions about Genius Desktop
Genius Desktop läuft auf folgenden Plattformen:
Genius Desktop is natively available for Windows 11 and macOS. Native macOS support is new; the predecessor Genius PC Client ran exclusively on Windows. Further platforms such as Windows 10 and Linux can be implemented upon request.
Server- oder Netzwerkausfallschutz sind Mechanismen, die dazu dienen, dass ein System auch dann weiter funktioniert, wenn ein Teil davon ausfällt. Multiple Genius Servers or cluster nodes can be configured for Pro clients. Unreachable targets are automatically blacklisted. For example, entry 1 is a load balancer, entry 2 is Server 1, entry 3 is Server 2. If the load balancer fails, a functioning server remains accessible. If no target is available, print jobs are cached locally and the user is informed.
Is the Genius Server required for the operation of Genius Desktop?
Yes. Genius Desktop requires Genius Server. The client is part of the Genius Server platform.
Does Genius Desktop support kiosk environments?
Yes. UI-less printing with self-delegation is specifically designed for kiosk environments with changing users.
What are the plans for future features?
Genius Desktop is replacing the previous Genius PC Client. New features are planned and will be rolled out with subsequent versions.
