How you benefit from Genius Desktop

Finally native on macOS: The previous Genius PC Client only ran on Windows. Genius Desktop supports macOS natively, making it the first client generation for mixed Windows and Apple environments.

Pull printing supports controlled print output. Optionally, logging in can also be enabled to further secure the printing process.

Fail-safe for critical infrastructure: If the server is unreachable, the user will be actively informed. It is possible to temporarily store the print job locally or send it to an accessible device.

Native macOS and Windows support

Windows 11 and macOS natively. Extensions to other platforms such as Lixus are technically possible. The multilingual client facilitates use in international teams.

Pull Printing and Delegation

Pull Printing and Direct Printing via Printer Selection, Light Pull Printing and Light Direct Printing, Favourites and recently used printers, Printer search, Basic Delegation Print and Print Job Name Modification.

Light Pull Printing for lean infrastructure

Light Pull Printing and Light Direct Printing significantly reduce central storage requirements and lower network traffic. Ideal for WAN links and distributed locations with limited bandwidth.

Failover Architecture

Genius Desktop supports failover scenarios and helps to keep printing processes more stable, even during disruptions. This means your printing processes are always protected and work doesn't have to be interrupted.

Emergency operation with user information

If the server is not reachable, the user is informed and provided with options on how to proceed with the print job. For example, the print job can be saved locally or sent to another device.

Central Configuration and Tenant Capability

UI-less Printing enables print processes without an additional user interface and can be used in special application scenarios.

Genius Desktop läuft auf folgenden Plattformen:

Genius Desktop is natively available for Windows 11 and macOS. Native macOS support is new; the predecessor Genius PC Client ran exclusively on Windows. Further platforms such as Windows 10 and Linux can be implemented upon request.

Multiple Genius Servers or cluster nodes can be configured for Pro clients. Unreachable targets are automatically blacklisted. For example, entry 1 is a load balancer, entry 2 is Server 1, entry 3 is Server 2. If the load balancer fails, a functioning server remains accessible. If no target is available, print jobs are cached locally and the user is informed.

Yes. Genius Desktop requires Genius Server. The client is part of the Genius Server platform.

Yes. UI-less printing with self-delegation is specifically designed for kiosk environments with changing users.

Genius Desktop is replacing the previous Genius PC Client. New features are planned and will be rolled out with subsequent versions.
